Yes, you must be 21 years or older with a valid ID to purchase cannabis from any Connecticut recreational cannabis retailer. Patients enrolled in the medical marijuana program, including those under 18 with qualifying medical conditions and a valid medical card, may also purchase cannabis with a valid ID.
Smoking cannabis in public spaces is prohibited in Connecticut, similar to restrictions on tobacco smoking. Cannabis use is only allowed in private residences or other private properties.

In Connecticut, adults over 21 can legally possess up to 1.5 ounces of cannabis in public and store up to 5 ounces at home or in a locked container in their vehicle, such as a glovebox or trunk. While the legal possession limit is 1.5 ounces, individual transactions are capped at 14 grams (1/2 ounce). However, customers can make additional purchases if needed. Registered Medical Marijuana patients may purchase up to 5 ounces per month and are not subject to individual transaction limits.

Medical certifications must be renewed every year to stay active.
Cannabis waste should be mixed with other waste material, like coffee grounds or kitty litter, so it can’t be used. The waste mixture should be in a taped and sealed container, like an empty yogurt cup, and thrown into regular trash. If cannabis packaging is recyclable, throw EMPTY and CLEAN containers away with other recyclables. If the packaging is not recyclable, throw the EMPTY package away with the regular trash. Do not flush cannabis products or packaging down the sink or toilet.
