In Connecticut, registered medical marijuana patients are permitted to purchase up to 5 ounces of cannabis per month from licensed dispensaries. Unlike recreational users, medical patients are not subject to per-transaction limits, allowing them to obtain their monthly allotment as needed. This flexibility ensures patients can access the necessary amount of cannabis to manage their qualifying medical conditions effectively.

It's important to note that while patients can purchase up to 5 ounces monthly, they are allowed to possess up to 2.5 ounces of cannabis on their person at any given time. Any additional amount must be stored securely, such as in a locked container at home.

In Connecticut, medical marijuana cards must be renewed annually. Starting the renewal process at least 30 days before your card's expiration date is recommended to ensure uninterrupted access to your medication. The renewal involves obtaining a new certification from a Connecticut-licensed physician and submitting it through the state's online portal.
