Hey there, friends in East Lyme, Old Saybrook, Old Lyme, Essex, Waterford, Groton, Montville, Lyme, and beyond…
A lot of you have been asking how to get your Connecticut medical marijuana card, and we’re here to help. Why get a card? Is it hard? How long does it take?
You’re in luck – this is actually the easiest time in the history of CT’s medical marijuana program to get certified. And if you’re searching for a dispensary near me, we’re right here at Nightjar East Lyme, a welcoming hybrid dispensary serving both medical and adult-use customers. Let’s dive in!
Connecticut legalized medical cannabis in 2012, and the first medical dispensaries opened in 2014. But when adult-use cannabis was legalized in 2021 and sales began in January 2023, the spotlight shifted to the recreational market.
As of mid-2025, there are 70+ dispensaries in the state – but only THREE are medical-only. About 20 of us, like Nightjar East Lyme, are hybrid dispensaries that proudly serve both rec and med patients.
Because of the drop in demand, prices to get certified have plummeted, and the state even eliminated its $100 registration fee. Now, the whole process usually costs under $125 total – sometimes even less.

Here’s what you get as a certified medical patient:
So if you’re in East Lyme or anywhere nearby – Old Lyme, Waterford, Groton, or Montville – and searching “dispensary near me,” getting certified could save you money and expand your options.
Any licensed CT provider – MD, PA, or APRN – can certify you if you have a qualifying condition.
Try your current doctor first. If they don’t offer certification, we’ll help you find one who does! Just make sure you have a document showing your diagnosis. Most providers offer an evaluation – and won’t charge you unless you qualify.
Pro tip: Avoid providers charging over $125. Prices are competitive, and you deserve a fair deal.
After your appointment, you’ll get a “Patient Certification Email” from [email protected] that includes your application instructions.
Use the link in the email to create your Biznet account, activate it, and log in. Select “I am a Patient,” enter your date of birth, and check your personal info for accuracy.
Then, choose your dispensary from the dropdown – select CT Nightjar 1 to register with us in East Lyme.
